We’re back! Muay Thai is Life was MIA for a bit as we were working on a few things outside of Muay Thai that had not allowed us to dedicate as much time to the site as many of our fans were used to, but now we are back in full force trying to bring you as much Muay Thai content as we can. As had been reported previously by our associates at The Muay Thai Media Network New York’s Take On Productions has joined forces with up and coming Muay Thai juggernaut Yokkao Boxing to bring you the next installment of “Battle at the Bally’s”! Because the state of New York continues its crusade against MMA, the use of “Full Muay Thai Rules” (elbows) in Muay Thai fights held in NY continues to suffer. For this reason, the fastest growing NY-based Muay Thai promotion, Take On Productions, decided to occasionally venture to the neighboring state of New Jersey, where Full Thai Rules are allowed. Take On Production’s first venture into the state of New Jersey proved successful with “Battle at the Bally’s” held at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was the first “Full Muay Thai Rules” card to be held in Atlantic City and provided fight fans with some great full Thai rules matches that included Jay Matias vs Jake Mainini and Justin Greskiewicz vs Eddie Martinez.

On August 11th, 2012, Take On Productions heads back to Atlantic City for “Battle at the Bally’s 2″. Fighters rumored to appear on the card include East Coast and NY favorites such as Brett Hlavacek, Brian Collette, Jay Matias, and many more. But perhaps the most exciting recent announcement is that the main event for the show will be a rematch between Justin Greskiewicz and Gabriel Varga. We recently profiled Canada’s Gabriel Varga and Varga discussed an interest in venturing into Full Thai Rules fights. Varga feels he may be able to find more fighting opportunities in the U.S. and North America if he were to begin accepting fights in Full Thai Rules, in addition to the K-1 Kickboxing circuit where he is incredibly successful.

Greskiewicz and Varga last met in February of 2010 where Varga defeated the colorful and exciting Greskiewicz by Unanimous Decision. Varga has long been considered one of the top Muay Thai fighters in the U.S. in the 140-145 lbs division but has unfortunately suffered from underexposure in North America. The upcoming rematch between Greskiewicz and Varga will be an interesting one due to the fact that their previous meeting was contested under “modified” Muay Thai Rules (no elbows) where Varga is very comfortable. The rematch however will be contested under Full Thai Rules where Greskiewicz has made his career. This will be Varga’s first venture into Full Thai Rules and it will be interesting to see how he handles the elbows. Greskiewicz is also not the same fighter Varga met in 2010. Greskiewicz has demonstrated marked improvement and has since shared the ring with some top names in Muay Thai in the U.S. and abroad, including recent fights with the likes of Malaipet, Bernie Mendieta, Liam Harrison, Eddie Martinez, and more. Greskiewicz definitely holds an edge over Varga in that he has definitely been the more busy of the two fighters since their meeting in 2010. Whatever your predictions for this bout, it is without a doubt a must see as both of these guys are high on the pecking order of North America’s top Muay Thai fighters!
