K-1 Rising – The kickboxing juggernaut’s return to glory begins in Spain. Full lineup announced!
For months now, we have had heard rumors regarding the return of K-1. Then there came the news that K-1 and current kickboxing powerhouse It’s Showtime struck a deal whereby both promotions would join forces in order to put together some of the biggest kickboxing bouts since the K-1′s glory days in Japan. Finally, we heard rumors of a show sometime later this year as well as a press release stating that K-1 is looking to make its way stateside during the 2012-2013 season to help further promote kickboxing here in the United States. Now, whether or not all of these statements hold up in the long run remains to be seen but what we do know now is that kickboxing heavyweight Badr Hari has signed a deal with K-1 and will return to the kickboxing ring in addition to continuing his quest for boxing glory. In addition to the news regarding Badr Hari, K-1 has now released the full lineup of K-1 Rising, their heralded comeback event which will be held on May 27th in Madrid, Spain. The event will feature the return of the K-1 MAX 70kg/154 lb. Final 16 as well as a few heavyweight super fights. Check out the match ups below.

Adding to the exciting cards happening stateside this weekend, the Muay Thai action heads east as It’s Showtime presents a stellar card featuring some of the world’s best kickboxers at both the lightweight and heavyweight classes. One fight that is, without a doubt, going to be nothing but fireworks from start to finish is the 70kg match-up between K-1 MAX Ukrainian superstar Artur Kyshenko and Armenian-Dutch spark plug Gago Drago. Expect lot’s of heavy artillery and primal screams! In the heavyweight division Dutch It’s Showtime World Title holder Hesdy Gerges faces of with K-1 Veteran and former Romanian Secret Service agent Daniel Ghita. Also on the card, former K-1 MAX and Shootboxing World Champion, looks to bounce back from a loss against Spanish Kickboxer Abraham Roqueni at El Desafio in Malaga, Spain this past February. His opponent is Morocco’s L’houcine Ouzgni.
