Klaar Om Te Bossen 3 – Americans Cyrus Washington and Michael Chase Corley set to do battle in Suriname
Before I get to the rest of the article, can I just say that I was blown away by how ridiculously amazing WBC International Champion Jemyma Betrian looks in the poster for the “Klaar Om Te Bossen 3″ event which will be held this Friday, December 23rd in Paramaribo, Suriname? I seriously wish I could be on this card just to share the card with her. Anyway, roughly over a year and a half ago I was given a chance to fight in Suriname alongside now professional American female Muay Thai standout Lindsay Scheer. Now, I travel to South America regularly because my family is originally from Colombia, but what I found upon arriving to Suriname was that it is a country unlike any other on the South American continent. A former Dutch colony, Suriname is home to a very diverse group of people consisting of descendants of African slaves and Chinese, Javanese, and Indian immigrants. Aside from Dutch, the people of Suriname speak a variety of different languages, the most important being a creole language called Sranan Tongo. “Fawaka”, which means “what’s up”, was the only bit of Sranan Tongo I was able to pick up before I was knocked into an alternate state of consciousness by Dutch-Surinamese fighter, Jairzinho “Bigi Boi” Rozenstruik. Muay Thai Worldwide – It’s Showtime Fast and Furious 8-man tournament set
The highly anticipated September 25th It’s Showtime “Fast & Furious” event has finalized the lineup for it’s 70 kg 8-man tournament and superfights. The event has undergone a few changes since being announced. It was initially scheduled to be the stage for an anticipated match up between Dutch-Moroccan heavyweight sensation Badr Hari and Romanian star Daniel Ghita, however the bout fell through. Also, 2-time K-1 MAX champion Giorgio Petrosyan was set to be a part of the 70 kg 8-man tournament, however the Italian-Armenian’s nagging hand injury once again lead to him having to drop out of an upcoming fight. He has since been replaced by Dutch wunderkind Robin Van Roosemalen. The 8-man tournament features a who’s who of top 70 kg Kickboxing talent so be sure to stay locked on Muay Thai is Life for all results and info about the It’s Showtime “Fast and Furious” event. Enfusion: “Trial of the Gladiators” currently in production in Macedonia
Now, unless you live in Europe or are a complete nutcase for all things Dutch style kickboxing (like me), you may have never heard of Enfusion. Similar to The Contender Muay Thai and the upcoming Challenger Muay Thai reality shows, Enfusion is a reality program that brings together fighters from all over the globe and has them compete in various challenges in order to determine which fighters will face each other in the ring. Unlike, the Muay Thai reality shows, the Enfusion rules are those currently used in promotions such as It’s Showtime and the currently in limbo K-1 series of events. Therefore, clinching is limited, no elbows strikes can be thrown, and all fights are 3×3 minute rounds. The weight class for this edition of Enfusion is 85 kg (aprox. 187 lbs). The show will feature 18 fighters from around the world (including the U.S. & Canada) with the fighters being divided into 4 teams. Each team will have a female Team Captain at the helm. Production for the show is already underway in Ohrid, Macedonia and will be wrapping up Friday, August 19th, 2011.
