Muaythai Premiere League “Blood & Steel” – The Hague, Netherlands RESULTS! Levin scores lone KO of the evening, Kitchen & Corbett victorious, Hollenbeck suffers first professional loss.
This past weekend, the fighters that take part in the juggernaut of a promotion that is the Muaythai Premier League, traveled to the land of tulips, wooden shoes, giant wheels of cheese, coffee shops that aren’t really known for their coffee, and big & tall people that can kick a lot of ass! Yes, I’m talking about that wonderful freedom loving nation known as the Netherlands. Every time I hear someone talk about the Netherlands, I am reminded of a skit by comedian and Arrested Development star David Cross. Discussing 9/11, he rebuked the claim that the terrorists hated America because of our “freedom” and argued that they hate us rather for our foreign policy choices over the years. He backed up his claim by adding that, “if the terrorists really hated ‘freedom’ then the Netherlands would have been f$@#ing dust!” Not that I want to get in any sort of political discussion but the man does have a point but more important is the point he makes about how awesome Holland is. I love the Dutch, just as much as I love the Thais, mostly due to both cultures affinity for punching, kicking, kneeing, and elbowing people in the face! But I also love the Dutch because they seem to enjoy all of the finer things in life such as: natural herbal remedies, good cheese, good beer, and of course, one of the world’s favorite pastimes…SOCCER! Yes, soccer! I know where your minds were going so don’t sit there … Continue reading
USA’s Lindsay Scheer talks about her pro debut…at the MPL in Holland on November 6th!
I have met fighters and coaches from a lot of gyms in the U.S., mostly the East Coast, but a lot nonetheless. And while some of those coaches and fighters leave a lasting impression on me and my team, many times because of either distance or time, it is rare that we can build a relationship with every gym we come across in this great Muay Thai community. However, Eric Haycraft and Real Fighters Gym in Lousiville, Kentucky is one of the few gyms that we are lucky enough to call our friends. My team and I have had the pleasure of fighting on a multitude of cards alongside the Real Fighters Gym fighters and it is without one ounce of hesitation that I say that Real Fighters Gym is one of the best training facilities in the U.S. You would think that being in a pretty non-Muay Thai friendly city and state like Louisville, Kentucky would hinder the growth of their team and fighters but you would be wrong. Coach Eric Haycraft and his staff have been able to build one of the best Muay Thai gyms in the U.S. regardless of their location in the more equestrian friendly Bluegrass state. One of their most consistent and successful fighters has been Lindsay Scheer. Having seen Lindsay fight on many occasions, I can faithfully say that Lindsay is one of the toughest female fighters in the sport and is destined to make a name for herself in the sport of … Continue reading

Bangkok Fight Night 11: Cyrus Washington to replace Chase Green against Stephen Richards & Anthony Nieves steps back in the ring!
Bangkok Fight Night has gone under the radar a bit too long in our opinion. The Atlanta-based promotion is already approaching it’s 11th show and only looks to continue to grow on it’s success. The hybrid Muay Thai & MMA promotion has enjoyed quite a bit of success in the Peach State and have been both home and breeding ground for some of the U.S.’s top nakmuays. Chike Lindsay, Stephen Richards, Anthony Nieves, and Alex Berrios are among some of the bigger names in the sport of Muay Thai that have stepped under the Bangkok Fight Night lights. Khunpon Dechkampu, essentially the man behind the curtain of Bangkok Fight Nights, recently spoke with Muay Thai is Life about their upcoming event and announced a few changes, as well as a few other fights that will be on the card. In the main event, Stephen Richards will now be facing off against Cyrus Washington, who comes in as a replacement for previously announced opponent, Chase Green. A veteran of the sport who has spent his time as of late bouncing around Thailand and the U.S., Washington is an always game fighter that has faced off with some of the world’s best and definitely never seems to shy away from any fight. Washington, was also part of the cast of “The Challenger Muay Thai”, a Muay Thai-themed reality show that pretty much took over from where 2008′s “The Contender: Muay Thai” left off and is now airing throughout Europe and Asia. Washington … Continue reading
