Full Muay Thai Rules comes to the East Coast. Warriors Cup XII in New Jersey on July 23rd!

New York has always been known for being one of the most progressive states in America. Usually at the forefront of everything entertainment and fashion, the Empire State really dropped the ball when they decided, erroneously, to not allow elbows in Muay Thai or regulate MMA. However, in some sort of great irony, New Jersey, the state New Yorkers have long made the butt of many jokes and always dismissed as some sort of ugly red headed step child, has stepped up and made them look like fools. Yes, my beautiful elbow happy Muay Thai fans, Full Muay Thai rules has finally made it’s way to the East Coast! After all the comments made by our left coast brethren about the east coast’s lack of the seventh and eighth limbs in the science of 8 limbs, Weapons 9 promotions decided to stand up and in Roberto Duran-esque fashion say, “NO MAS!”. On July 23rd, Weapons 9 promotions presents Warriors Cup XII (that’s 12, for those of you who like me, get confused when people use letters to represent numbers). Warriors Cup XII is the first WBC Sanctioned Full Muay Thai rules event on the east coast. And in order to live up to the Full Muay Thai rules billing, the event will feature some of the countries top nakmuays, as well as a huge name from across the pond. Results from Warriors Cup XI in Rahway, NJ.

Our good friends from Pittsburgh Muay Thai and North Jersey Muay Thai attended the Warriors Cup XI in Rahway, New Jersey last night. It was an action packed evening of amateur Muay Thai with more than 15 bouts featuring fighters from some of the best Muay Thai gyms in the Northeast. First off, congrats to our friends David Zabielski and Colby McIntyre from Pittsburgh Muay Thai. Colby McIntyre lost by split decision in what was a very nice technical fight for his first time in the ring, add to the fact that he took the fight on two weeks notice, it was really a very solid performance. David Zabielski, also from Pittsburgh Muay Thai, fought a solid fight finishing his opponent in Round 2 with vicious knee strikes.
