Liam Harrison stops Andrei Kulebin at “The Main Event in Manchester” – RESULTS
This past weekend, England’s Liam Harrison further cemented himself as one of the worlds top fighters after he dismantled highly respected Andrei Kulebin with vicious leg kicks en route to a TKO win in Rd. 3 of their bout at “The Main Event Manchester” event in the UK. Throughout the fight Kulebin struggled to mount any sort of offense against the Bad Company Gym standout. As Kulebin tried to get his offense started, Harrison would consistently counter with vicious low kicks or attack with a series of combinations that would end with low kicks to the inside and outside of Kulebins legs. Towards the end of round two, it was apparent that Harrison’s kicks were beginning to take their toll on the talented Belarussian. In round 3, Harrison unleashed a barrage of leg kicks for everyone of Kulebin’s attempted attacks and at about 30 seconds into the third round Harrison struck with a quick jab low kick combo that ended the fight as Kulebin limped to his corner seeming to motion to the referee that he could not continue. It was a very impressive performance by Harrison as he made Kulebin look like a far less threat than he truly is. Kulebin has and is considered a top fighter in the world, most recently winning the WKN’s Big 8 Tournament in his home country of Belarus. However, on this night Harrison simply put on a masterful performance to further lay claim that he is the top foreign nakmuay in … Continue reading

MTiL Skype Interview – An interview with Julie & Nathan Kitchen
We decided to try a new thing here at MTiL and put together Skype Interviews, with side by side video, and interview fighters from around the world, that way you don’t just hear the people we interview but can also see them (Granted they have Skype of course). Julie and Nathan Kitchen have been very cool with us here at MTiL so it was only natural that the first people we would interview with our new “innovative” and “completely original” system would be them. I wanted to speak with both Nathan and Julie about Julie’s recent fight against Aleide Lawant for her 14th World Title, her currently rivalry with American fighter Miriam Nakamoto, as well as a few other great subjects like balancing fighting with raising two up and coming twin girls who also happen to be fighters, and the female side of the Muay Thai scene. All in all it’s a great conversation with the classy Kitchen family. We hope you enjoy!

Julie Kitchen speaks with Muay Thai is Life about the MPL, being “The Queen of Muay Thai”, and more!
We just recently had the honor of speaking with non-other than 13x Muay Thai World Champion, Julie Kitchen as part of our ongoing series of phone interviews titled “Muay Talk – Interviews with Muay Thai’s Champions”. If you are an avid Muay Thai fan or practitioner than Mrs. Kitchen needs absolutely no introduction. Hailing from Touchgloves Gym in Penzance, Cornwall, UK, Julie is a veteran in the sport of Muay Thai with over 50 fights and a title belt in just about every important Muay Thai organization you can think of. Now, if you are a fan of Muay Thai is Life then you know that I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with anything and everything from the UK. I’m a sucker for English Premier League Football (Soccer for the yanks), dry English Humor, and probably wouldn’t survive if I didn’t start out my day with a “healthy” English breakfast. With that said, when Julie accepted our request for an interview, I became giddy and nervous for a multitude of reasons. One, given the fact that Julie’s nickname is “The Queen of Muay Thai” (and for good reason!) I became nervous as I know that all encounters with any form of royalty have to follow strict guidelines and protocol. I was distraught because I didn’t know whether or not I had to bow my head when we spoke or if I had to address her as “Your majesty” or “Your Royal Highness of Muay Thai badassery”. My second dilemma was … Continue reading
UK Update: Super Showdown announces full fight lineup & Andy Thrasher’s big win in Thailand!
Article by Mark Deluca… The full lineup has now been announced for Brian Calder’s SuperShowdown Muay Thai event to be held on Nov. 5th, 2011 in Glasgow, Scotland. Not only does the show have an 8 man 59kg tournament that could headline any show, but it also has a main card filled with big names in UK Muay Thai such as Andy Thrasher, Davy Macintosh, Jordan Calder, Gordon Smith etc. Andy Thrasher is going from strength to strength in his stint out in Thailand, most recently winning the Toyota Marathon 8-man tournament. Andy first faced a Ugandan opponent and then a Mexican fighter in his second fight, winning both bouts on points. In the final, he faced Lumpini No. 1 ranked fighter Prakeyseng Sit Or and won by KO in round 2! Andy is now 300,000 Baht richer and more confident than ever for his upcoming bout with another famous Thai fighter in Samingprai Kiatphontip. Jordan Calder is one of the biggest prospects coming out of Scotland. At only 18 years of age, Jordan moved up a weight class and had an impressive win over K-Star’s Carl Copestake to capture the ISKA Commonwealth Title. Gordon Smith, a stablemate of Jordans, recently defended his STBA Scottish title with a KO win over Wullie Dempster. The 8-man on this show will be an exciting one to say the least. A lot of interesting potential match ups depending on the draw. It’s a tough one to call, especially with it being a tournament … Continue reading
