Pictures by Muay Thai is Life’s Galen Okazaki of Muaythai Premier League’s Stars & Stripes – Part 1
Muay Thai is Life’s photographer extraordinaire Galen Okazaki, made his way to the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California this past weekend to capture what was without a doubt the biggest Muay Thai event ever held on U.S. soil. With a stacked fight card featuring names such as Buakaw Por Pramuk, Artem Levin, Nathan “Carnage” Corbett, Julie Kitchen, and many more, the Muaythai Premiere League was a star studded affair that brought some of the best in the sport of Muay Thai to the U.S. Below you can see a few of the shots Galen caught during the Buakaw Por Pramuk vs Warren Stevelmans fight and the Julie Kitchen vs Martina Jindrova fight. Stay tuned for more pics from this great event!

Muay Thai Premier League Results! Buakaw, Corbett, Holzken, Kitchen take home the win, Humby scores huge KO!
The inaugural MPL event has ended and needless to say it was a fantastic night of fights. Not one fight on the entire card lacked excitement and the promotion as whole was beautifully put together. Although the event did take a while to get started and those watching the GFL.tv feed where growing antsy because of sound problems, in the end the event made up for the difficulties in spades. All fighters put on fantastic performances, but perhaps the moments or details that stood out to me most were Valentina Shevchenko’s vicious cross, Filip Verlinden’s overall performance against Tomas Hron, Baxter Humby’s amazing spinning back kick KO of Zidov Akuma, Julie Kitchen’s overall technique, Corbett’s vicious elbows, and last but not least Buakaw’s Muay Thai clinic against Warren Stevelmans. The fighters put together for tonight’s MPL were brought to the U.S. to demonstrate to American audiences the beauty and power of Muay Thai, they delivered. However, perhaps the only disconcerting part of the evening were reports that for such a momentous event, the stands at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach (where the event took place) were surprisingly empty. One has to wonder if the online pay-per-view buys will help the MPL recoup what they may have lost in ticket sales. Or perhaps the event made the money the promotion expected for a U.S. event. The point is the U.S. Muay Thai Community has to get together and support event such as these any chance they get. The success and … Continue reading
The Muay Thai Premier League is upon us! Live Play-by-Play this Friday, PPV on GFL.tv, and updated card!
So I’m sitting here in Bogota, Colombia stuffed full of arepas, empanadas, yuca, chorizo and other Colombian delights while watching the results of yesterdays first fight of the Isuzu Cup in Bangkok…which Ikuysang K. Rungthannakiat won by decision. Even when in a far off and distant land, I find it important to take the time and let Muay Thai fans such as yourselves know about what’s going on. Unless, you have been living under a rock, than you know that this Friday, September 2nd, the most historic event to ever come to the U.S. is taking place in California. Yes, I am talking about the San Francisco pin collectors convention at the Hard Rock Cafe…wait…that’s not right. Sorry, I got my Muay Thai agenda mixed up with my personal agenda. Totally awkward. The Muay Thai Premier League kicks off with it’s first event of the season this Friday, September 9th at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California! Seriously, if you didn’t know that some of the biggest names in Muay Thai are facing off this weekend in California, you need to be beaten to death with an over-sized fish carcass. I’m a strong believer that a persons death should be equally ridiculous to their final actions in life. So not knowing about this epic event is equally ridiculous to the demise I just mentioned. But I digress! There are three ways to catch this epic event. You can either be there live, which would of course be the best … Continue reading
